ChipIron is designed to comply with the current CHIP's legislation in respect of the issuing of Product Safety Sheets to customers using hazardous products at their place of work.
Typically you may have many different suppliers, each with hundreds of safety Data Sheets covering their product range, and are thus faced with having to hold hundreds, if not thousands, of Safety Data Sheets for the products you stock. Of course you are not required to issue a Safety Data Sheet with every product you sell and knowing which products do require one further adds to your problems. It is very unlikely that your sales staff will be qualified to make such crucial decisions. Even when you have managed to sort out which Data Sheets a customer needs, and providing that the customer has been prepared to wait this long, you are then faced with the problem of of actually issuing them to the customer. You either have to keep a pre-printed stock of every type of Data Sheet or have to copy them on the spot this being either a space or a time consuming operation. Lastly you may then have to record the fact that the customer has been given the data Sheets (Customer Tracking).
Basically it has meant that up to now, for all practical purposes, it has been extremely difficult if not impossible for you to comply with the CHIP's legislation.
ChipIron addresses all the problems of CHIP compliance and solves them in a no fuss way. It provides a single source for all the Safety Data Sheets that you will need. It also monitors sales as they occur by reading the invoice or delivery note on its way to the printer. In this way ChipIron can first determine whether any of the products sold require Safety Data sheets and it can then check with the relevant customers records to see if that customer has already had copies of them. It will even check to see if the latest copies the customer had are the up to date versions. If the outcome is that Safety Data Sheets are required then these will be printed on the spot within a few seconds so that the customer can be handed them with the normal paperwork. There is absolutely no disruption to the distributors current systems or methods as ChipIron just plugs into the back of their current invoice/despatch note printer.
ChipIron is inexpensive, running as it does on industry standard Personal Computers (PCs) and laser printers which you may already have at your site and which in any case are relatively inexpensive to buy. The actual ChipIron software costs the distributor under £2 a day. All this means that it is now viable, both practically and financially, to comply with the CHIP's legislation in respect of the issuing of Product Safety Data Sheets to customers.
